Your Light, Your Way

In Somali, Iftin means light.

There's a saying we hold close: "Iftin la'aan waa aqoon la'aan." Without light, there is no knowledge. Without light, there is no growth. Without light, we cannot truly see ourselves or each other, and that's exactly what we believe you are. A light that should never be dimmed.

Our Story

Iftin was born from a journey many Muslim women know well: the moment you choose to wear the hijab.

For our founder, Ajan, that decision came with its own challenges. Like so many women taking that leap of faith, she suddenly found herself navigating a new reality. Her wardrobe needed to shift. Her relationship with fashion had to evolve. And the clothes that once felt like "her" no longer fit the life she was choosing.

She spent months searching for hijabs that could bridge both worlds, pieces that honoured her commitment to modesty whilst still reflecting the bold, fashion-forward woman she'd always been. But everywhere she looked, the options felt the same. Neutral. Safe. Uninspiring.

The fashion enthusiast in her couldn't settle. If what she needed didn't exist, she'd create it herself.

So Ajan started designing. At first, just for herself, experimenting with colours, patterns, and prints that made her feel like her. Hijabs that didn't ask her to shrink or blend in, but instead let her shine.

Then something unexpected happened. Women in her close network noticed. They connected with what she was creating because they were living the same struggle. They wanted hijabs that celebrated their individuality, their boldness, their light. One by one, they asked for their own.

And Ajan realised this wasn't just her story. It was their story too.

Iftin is for every woman who takes that leap of faith. For the woman stepping into modesty for the first time. For the woman redefining what it means on her own terms. For the woman who refuses to be told that faith and fashion can't coexist.

A lifelong fashion enthusiast, she's committed to becoming a pioneering voice in modest fashion, championing unity, inclusivity, and representation in an industry that has often overlooked us.

Because we don't blend. We shine.

Every design is intentional. Every pattern tells a story. And every woman who wears Iftin is making a statement: I will not dim my light.
